RICHARDSON, Texas (April 25, 2001) — Fifty professionals from 17 oil-producing nations around the globe will be on The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) campus from April 29 to May 25 attending an intensive, month-long advanced program in oil and gas financial management. The program is sponsored by The UTD School of Management’s (SOM) Center for International Accounting Development.
The purpose of the program is to give participants from a wide variety of countries an improved understanding of accounting, legal, economic, technical, strategic, financial and taxation issues that pertain to oil and gas operations, including refinery and petrochemical aspects.
Dr. Adolf Enthoven, program director, notes that participants are chosen from middle- and upper-level personnel in private and public sector operations from countries other than the U.S.
“The variety of backgrounds and countries helps participants gain insights into comparative energy operations. They are also able to compare notes and share experiences that help them gain a very broad perspective,” Dr. Enthoven says.
A number of top energy experts from petroleum corporations and accounting and consulting firms, such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, Thompson & Knight, Ernst & Young, Accentura, Deloitte & Touche, and TXU, are involved in the program.
The program is now in its 23rd year at UTD and has more than 1,200 alumni from 76 countries. Participants in this year’s program are from Angola, Brazil, China, Colombia, Egypt, Greece, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Trinidad, Vietnam and Yemen.
