Comet pride was on full display at the recent South West Affiliate of College and University Resident Halls (SWACURH) conference, as UT Dallas brought home the award for “Most Spirited Large Delegation.” The leadership conference brings advisers, student leaders, residence hall leaders and student housing supervisors together from across the region.

The UT Dallas delegation’s spirited showing beat out such larger schools as Texas Tech, Oklahoma State University and Texas A&M.  The group wore matching superhero T-shirts—which mirrored the conference theme—and learned cheers they performed during meals and when walking between events.  In a show of camaraderie, the group also learned cheers from other schools and greeted the other schools with their own cheers.

“Winning this award is a great honor to our students and our University,” said Ryan White, director of Residential Life.  “It is an honor to be chosen by the conference staff as the University that stood out as ‘most spirited’ among all large delegation schools over the conference weekend.”

In 2008, the Residential Housing Association won the SWACURH conference award for “Most Spirited Delegation.”
