RICHARDSON, Texas (Dec. 17, 2004) – Officials from Richland College and The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) this morning signed a transfer agreement that allows for the acceptance of Associate’s Degrees in Journalism, Broadcast Journalism and Advertising/Public Relations from Richland into UTD’s Bachelor of Arts Interdisciplinary Studies program with a concentration in communications.

Under the agreement, which is effective immediately, UTD also agreed to teach at least one upper-level communications course each year at Richland, which is part of the Dallas County Community College District.

It was the second transfer, or articulation, agreement the two institutions of higher learning have reached this year. In February, they approved a concurrent admissions agreement that facilitates the transfer of students who desire to pursue a degree in electrical engineering. Under that agreement, students who earn an associate degree in science with an engineering emphasis from Richland are automatically eligible to transfer to UTD, where they can pursue a B.S. degree in electrical engineering in UTD’s Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science.
