Best-selling author and parenting expert Jim Fay was recently at the UT Dallas Callier Center for Communication Disorders to present a one-day, sold-out conference titled, “Helping Parents and Teachers Raise Responsible Kids.”
Fay is the co-founder of the Love and Logic Institute, which helps parents, teachers and clinicians find practical, fun solutions to some of the most common childhood behavior challenges. These practical tools and techniques help adults achieve respectful, healthy relationships with children.
“It’s all about teaching children responsibility and self-discipline, while at the same time giving the message that the adults in their lives care about them,” said Fay.
Fay is well-known among professionals and families for his approach to positive parenting and classroom management. “Our clinicians requested this particular conference because they thought it would benefit them, as well as the parents who bring their children to our therapy programs,” said Suzanne Bonifert, head of speech-language services at Callier.
The Bruton Conference Series on Communication Disorders sponsored the event. The series began in 1982 through a charitable trust established by David Bruton Jr., a distinguished Texan and industry leader.
The Bruton Conference Series has developed a national reputation and generates a large crowd for each event. The topics for the series alternate between speech/language and hearing.
