In honor of International Brain Awareness Week (March 14–20), The Center for BrainHealth at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) will distribute approximately 600 bicycle helmets donated by the Dallas Cowboys to children and parents at select Dallas-area Head Start centers from 2 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16.

Head injury is the most common cause of serious disability or death in bicycle crashes.

At the event, staffers from the UTD center will educate parents about the importance of wearing helmets to prevent head injury, and representatives from the Dallas Police Department will be on hand to provide safety information. A Dallas Cowboys player, cornerback Terence Newman, and mascot Rowdy are scheduled to be present at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Head Start center, located at 2922 MLK Jr. Blvd in Dallas, from 3 to 4 p.m.

For more information, please contact Molly Keebler, head of community programs for the center, at 214-905-3007.
