The Naveen Jindal School of Management will increase physical capacity when the 108,000-square-foot space is added to the existing 204,000-square-foot building in 2014.
Work starts this month to make the Naveen Jindal School of Management’s new addition a reality, providing 50 percent more space for the University’s largest school.
The start of construction for the addition as well as a new residence hall was celebrated during two groundbreaking ceremonies held on May 1. The University community, including administrators, faculty, students, members of the Office of Administration and its Facilities Management group, officials from the city of Richardson and community well-wishers gathered for the groundbreaking events. University of Texas System representatives, including Regents Printice Gary and Brenda Pejovich, and staff from the Office of Facilities and Construction Planning, also participated.
Dr. Hasan Pirkul, dean of the Jindal School, spoke at the event to launch construction of the school addition.
“The new building will allow our students the space they need to grow and be successful, and empowers our faculty to enrich their innovative teaching and advance their research to new levels of success,” said Dr. Hasan Pirkul, dean of the Jindal School and Caruth Chair of Management.
With an emphasis on room for student services, the four-story facility will feature high-tech trading and sales labs, three executive education classrooms and meeting space for student organizations. A courtyard will incorporate green space for outdoor gatherings while a sweeping, two-story walkway will connect the current building to the new addition. The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2014.

As crews begin staging the grounds for construction, the Jindal School’s development team is working to build support for the addition. Naming opportunities are available for many of its features, from classrooms to the greatly expanded Career Management Center to faculty offices.
Gifts of any amount made in support of the new space are welcome. Larger naming opportunities create endowments that will generate income for the Jindal School in perpetuity.
