Ten bands will take the stage and rock for a cause at Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity’s fifth annual “Rock the Campus for the Cure.”
Dallas-based Fair to Midland headlines the concert, which starts at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the UT Dallas softball field. Tickets are $10
The concert was started in honor of Brad Monks, an SAE member and a student of UT Dallas who lost a battle with lymphoma in May 2005.
In his memory, the fraternity created Rock the Campus, a concert that features local bands who donate their time to benefit the North Texas chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. All of the concert’s proceeds are donated to the society each year, and the event has so far raised more than $43,000.
“Rock the Campus for the Cure is so much more than just a concert,” said James Balandrán, director of leadership training and educational programs for SAE. “It is our way of celebrating Brad’s life and the inspiration he gave to us.”
In addition to Fair to Midland, the concert schedule includes Bo Cox, Don’t Wake Aislin, Sean Russell, Sidekick Mafia, Generic and four other local bands who have donated their time to the cause.
Tickets can be purchased for $10 by visiting www.RockTheCampus.org.
Sponsors for the concert include First National Bank of Texas, Golden Chick, Fluid Consulting, the UT Dallas Alumni Relations Office and others.
