UT Dallas Police Hosting Explorer Conference

The UT Dallas Police Department and the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association (TLEEAA) are hosting their Explorer Advisor Training Workshop through Friday.

Attending the annual event are police officers and Explorer Advisors from across Texas and from such far-flung agencies as the Bowie, Md., Police Department and New York City Police Department.

Established in 1989, the TLEEAA is a non-profit, non-partisan educational entity established for the purpose of promoting Law Enforcement Exploring through:

• Planning recreational and competitive events that foster vocational awareness, professional knowledge, character development and overall fitness.
• Helping law enforcement agencies and Learning for Life form and develop new Law Enforcement Explorer posts.
• Encouraging posts to participate in local, regional and national law enforcement conferences and other events.
• Planning and conducting training programs for Explorers and Advisors.

UT Dallas is the host of the annual state TLEEAA Explorer Competition held every April. Members of the UT Dallas Police Department serve on the TLEEAA board.

UT Dallas established its Explorer Post in 2000 and has competed and placed at dozens of local, regional, state and national competitions. UT Dallas Explorer Post 559 meets every week and is open to all students.
