University of Texas at Dallas President Prabhas V. Moghe has announced the appointment of Dr. Brian Ten Eyck as vice president for strategic initiatives, effective Nov. 17.
In this new role, Ten Eyck will serve as the University’s chief strategy officer, leading the development and implementation of UT Dallas’ strategic direction.
Working closely with Moghe, he will coordinate initiatives designed to help the University achieve its goals in student success, academic convergence, and industry engagement and partnerships. Faculty and staff are already generating ideas to support this vision.
Moghe emphasized that Ten Eyck’s arrival comes at a pivotal time for the University.
“Brian’s appointment marks a major step forward as we strengthen our capacity for strategic integration and forward momentum,” Moghe said. “I will rely on his leadership to ensure our strategies reflect our core values, respond to the evolving higher education landscape and position us competitively for the future.”
Dr. John Zerwas, chancellor of the UT System, said system leadership is excited about the strategic vision Moghe is bringing to UT Dallas.
“The team he is assembling, with this role as a key component, will be integral to crafting the strategic road map for an institution that has embraced innovation and is rapidly becoming a destination for excellence and collaboration in the growing Dallas metroplex and North Texas,” Zerwas said.
Ten Eyck brings more than 30 years of experience in higher education, economic development and information technology to UT Dallas.
“There is so much potential at UT Dallas,” he said. “Working with President Moghe and his leadership team, I’m confident that this institution will quickly become recognized as one of the most important universities in the country.”
As chief of staff at the University of Auckland, Ten Eyck partnered with the vice chancellor to build a team of research and policy advisors, improving responsiveness and transparency across the university while launching public-facing initiatives that connected academia with civic and private-sector leaders.
Previously, as vice president for executive affairs and chief of staff at the University of South Florida, Ten Eyck led the university’s 10-year strategic plan, restructured executive operations and aligned institutional priorities with available resources.
At the University of Arizona, as assistant vice president for strategic initiatives, he led multidisciplinary efforts in research development, health sciences, and crisis response — establishing new research institutes, scholarship programs and collaborative frameworks that strengthened the university’s statewide and national engagement.
“In all of his roles, Brian has been recognized for building consensus across complex organizations, leading through credibility and turning transformative vision into measurable outcomes,” Moghe said. “As we embark on a new chapter at UT Dallas, I am confident he will keep us focused and aligned.”
