The University of Texas at Dallas has hired a veteran fundraiser to help raise the profile and build external support for its School of Arts & Humanities.
Mary Brouillette is the new chief development officer for A&H after serving as the vice president of development for the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Society. Brouillette oversaw the annual fund, endowments and capital campaigns, where she exceeded all fund raising goals and managed the corporate, foundation and individual giving programs.
She has more than 10 years of experience in development and has established many important local and national contacts and relationships, which she will bring to her new job at the University.
“The varied and ambitious activities of our school provide a wide range of investment opportunities that will enhance the life of the greater community. I am delighted that an individual who brings such a valuable blend of expertise, experience, intelligence and charm has decided to help us achieve our goals,” said Dennis Kratz, dean of the School of Arts & Humanities.
“A university that aspires to be world-class needs a world-class development office,” said Interim Vice President of Development Laura Beall. “Mary Brouillette has the talent and experience we require at this point in our growth. Her leadership and extensive fundraising experience in the Dallas Metroplex will add significant value to the development team. We are building a group of highly experienced professionals who will lead this University to the resources needed to support President Daniel’s vision.”
The School of Arts & Humanities offers five degree tracks for undergraduate students: literary studies, historical studies, arts and performance, arts and humanities and arts and technology—one of only a few such programs nationwide. Students can also pursue graduate degrees in history, humanities and arts and technology.
The school places a high value on interdisciplinary scholarship and has been particularly successful at bridging the gap between the humanities and technology. In addition to its degree program, the school has centers of focused excellence, which include the following:
- Institute for Research in Anticipatory Systems
- Institute for Professional Communications
- Ackerman Center for Holocaust Studies
- Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Museums
- Center for Translation Studies
- Center for U.S.-Mexico Studies
- Confucius Institute
- French Regional & American Museum Exchange
- Institute for Interactive Arts and Engineering
A highly respected figure in the Dallas area, Brouillette served as:
- Vice President of Development, Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Society
- Director of Development, Perkins School of Theology (SMU)
- Director of Marketing and Communications, KPMG, LLP
- Manager of Public Relations and Communications/Education, Dallas Chamber of Commerce
