UTD Strengthens Development, Alumni Relations Efforts

In an effort to expand its outreach activities among corporations, foundations and its alumni, The University of Texas at Dallas has hired three new staff members in its Office of University Advancement.
The three will report to UTD Director of Development Rick Keith.
“All great universities have exceptionally strong relationships with donors and potential donors and their former students,” said Carlos Gonzalez Peña, UTD vice president for university advancement. “The addition of these talented individuals to our University Advancement staff will strengthen UTD’s efforts to more fully engage these vitally important university audiences.”
The new staff members are:
- Charles L. Salomon, development officer – annual giving. He will be responsible for developing and managing the university’s annual giving program. Salomon has extensive experience in conducting and directing fundraising efforts at a number of major universities, including Texas A&M University, Rice University, Louisiana State University and Kent State University. He has also provided fundraising counsel to several other institutions, including the University of Dallas and Ursuline Academy of Dallas. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Texas A&M University and a J.D. degree from Texas Tech University School of Law.
- Shannon R. Miller, development officer – corporate/foundation support. She will manage UTD’s efforts to attract major gifts from foundations, corporations and other agencies and coordinate all aspects of prospect research. Miller’s professional background includes clinical positions with a Dallas-based community organization and legal research duties for a law firm in Denton, Texas. She earned a B.S. degree in Psychology and an M.S. degree in Community Counseling from Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas and attended Texas Wesleyan University School of Law.
- Patricia A. Yandell, alumni relations officer. She will develop and conduct alumni relations activities for the university and its various schools and serve as a liaison to the UTD Alumni Board. Yandell managed marketing and communications programs at several high-technology firms in the Dallas area, including Nortel Networks. She received a B.A. degree in Business/Marketing from New Mexico State University and has pursued graduate studies in marketing communications at Southern Methodist University.
