The U.S. Academy of Management has recognized a paper by UT Dallas School of Management faculty member Habte Woldu, Ph.D., as one of the most influential papers published in the field of international human resource management during 2005 and 2006.

Dr. Woldu is the lead author of “A Cross-National Comparison of Cultural Value Orientations of Indian, Polish, Russian and American Employees,” which the International Journal of Human Resources published in its June 2006 issue. Co-authors of the paper are Pawan S. Budhwar and Carole Parkes, both faculty members at the Aston Business School, Aston University, in Birmingham, England.

Their paper is among 26 the international committee of the U.S. Academy of Management chose to receive its first Scholarly Research Award, which recognizes scholars who have advanced international human resource management in a significant way through a single piece of published work.

The 2007 award is the first of its kind given by the academy. Papers that won the honor displayed strong methodology and theoretical focus and used data from, or analysis across, more than one country.

They also showed strength in advancing the subject area and were judged likely to have an impact on the field.

Dr. Woldu has been a faculty member in international management at the UT Dallas School of Management since 1993. His ongoing research specializes in the dynamics of cultural changes in emerging economies, mainly in Eastern Europe but also in developing nations such as India.
