Dr. Istvan Ozsváth
Dr. Istvan Ozsváth, a professor emeritus in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, has passed away. A memorial service was held on Friday, Nov. 29, in the Lefkowitz Chapel of Temple Emanu-El.
Ozsváth had been with UT Dallas for 50 years, and was a professor of relativistic cosmology and differential geometry, which relates to the structure and dynamics of the universe.
He came to the University’s precursor, the Graduate Research Center of the Southwest/Southwest Center for Advanced Studies, in 1963 as an associate professor in the Earth and Planetary Sciences Laboratory.
Ozsváth is survived by his wife, Zsuzsanna Ozsváth, the Leah and Paul Lewis Chair of Holocaust Studies, professor of literature and the history of ideas in the School of Arts and Humanities, and director of the University’s Holocaust Studies program.
