Police Explorers Train, Compete at SWAT Camp

UT Dallas Police Explorers trained in night and daytime special operations scenarios last week in the Fort Worth Police Explorer SWAT Camp.
Post 559 joined Explorers from across the state in the two-night, three-day event at Worth Ranch Camp in Palo Pinto. Officers from the Fort Worth Police SWAT unit provided instruction.
Explorers trained in daytime and nighttime multi-agency scenarios, including advanced building entries and raids, high-risk traffic stops, and domestic disturbances.
Explorers also competed in a daytime search and rescue event, which required a compass and topographic map of the Worth Ranch.
The posts camped under the stars as part of handling the weather, environment and terrain for the three-day event.
“This was some of the best training,” Explorer Robert Haynes said. “It was sometimes difficult, but really, really fun.”
The Law Enforcement Explorer program — which is endorsed by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies — offers students experience, training and preparation for law enforcement careers.
