Information Resources Adds Assistant VP

Dr. Sue Taylor recently joined UT Dallas as assistant vice president and director of Enterprise Application Services for the University’s department of Information Resources.  

In her new position, Taylor provides guidance and oversight of enterprise-wide applications and general coordination of Information Resources operations.  She reports to Jim Gary, vice president and chief information officer for the University.

“Sue will focus on retooling the application support infrastructure as we transition to new information systems for students, human resources and finance,” Gary said.  “She brings a wide range of experience, and we’re thrilled she’s on board to help with our many technology initiatives.”  

Under Taylor’s direction, the Enterprise Application Services (EAS) department provides development, support and maintenance solutions for the administrative information systems of the University.  Those systems encompass student services, financial management, budget, procurement management, human resources management and facilities management.

Another key imperative falling under her area is Project Orion, the new PeopleSoft platform for housing student data and that is scheduled to be fully operational by fall 2009.  Taylor and several of her staff are involved in the planning and implementation of the project.   

In addition, Taylor supervises budgetary functions for Information Resources and will help lead strategic planning within the office.  

“I see my role as a bridge-builder between our technology and functional department teams,” Taylor said.  “My goal is to serve UT Dallas students, faculty and staff by improving daily operations and thoroughly understanding academic and business needs in order to provide the best information technology solutions currently available.  I’m excited about the opportunity to work in a growing and dynamic department — one that is critical to the day-to-day function of the University.”

Taylor comes to UT Dallas from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, where she was director of academic and information services.

The Office of Information Resources offers central information technology services to the entire UT Dallas community.  There are five directorates within the office:  Academic Computing and User Support, Architecture and Infrastructure Services, Enterprise Applications Services, Information Security and Networking and Telecommunication Services.
