Among the 34 faculty members recently honored at the 4th Annual University of Texas at Dallas Faculty Author Reception were two who had written or edited three or more books.
Jennifer S. Holmes, an associate professor in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences, wrote one book, was the co-author of another, and served as the co-editor of a third volume. From the School of Management, Mike Peng, a professor of strategic management and the Provost’s Distinguished Research Professor, produced five new editions in the area of global business, strategy and strategic management.
The reception, organized by Executive Vice President and Provost Hobson Wildenthal and Dean of Libraries Larry D. Sall, was held in the McDermott Suite on the fourth level of McDermott Library where the traditional gallery of framed posters showcased faculty members with their published works.
“Our author reception is becoming a tradition on our campus,” said Dean Sall. “The library staff is proud of this contribution to the life of our University and proud of our colleagues who have produced so many significant books in the past year.”
As a part of the occasion McDermott Library recognized faculty members who were promoted from assistant professor without tenure to associate professor with tenure. Those professors are invited to select a book that has been meaningful to them, either professionally or personally, to be added to the library collection. The selections are identified with a bookplate noting the faculty member’s achievement.
