Dr. A. Dean Sherry, Cecil and Ida Green Honors Chair and professor of chemistry at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) and professor of radiology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, was named director of the newly established Advanced Imaging Research Center at UT Southwestern.
Housed in the new Bill and Rita Clements Advanced Medical Imaging Building, the center is expected to foster strong collaborative research programs in the imaging sciences involving basic scientists, engineers and clinicians at the three University of Texas System institutions in the Dallas-Fort Worth area – UT Southwestern, UTD and The University of Texas at Arlington.

Initial research at the new center will involve the areas of structural biology, small animal imaging and spectroscopy, human imaging and spectroscopy and functional imaging of the human brain utilizing advanced magnetic resonance.
Sherry said the center “represents an extraordinary opportunity for investigators in North Texas and a milestone for research infrastructure in the Southwest.”
