The University of Texas at Dallas has tapped local fundraising expert Michele Myers as the new director of development for the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NS&M).

She was recruited from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, for whom she served as director of individual giving and managed a pool of more than 4,000 individual donors.

“I am pleased to welcome Michele Myers to the UT Dallas development team,” said Myron Salamon, dean of the school of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

“Her broad experience spanning medical facilities, educational institutions and local non-profits, positions her ideally to bring new vigor to development efforts in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.  We all look forward enthusiastically toward working with Michele.”

Known for fundraising success in the performing arts community—both at the Dallas Symphony and the Dallas Summer Musicals—Myers also brings her experience raising funds at the collegiate level to bear for NS&M.  She was a director of development for the University of Miami (Florida) and director of corporate and foundation relations for Oberlin College in Ohio, where she set in motion aggressive regional and national fundraising goals and programs.

“We believe that Michele’s experience as a fundraiser in higher education, medical research, and in the local Dallas community make her the perfect addition to our office for the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics,” said Dena Jackson, Interim Assistant Vice President of Development.

Myers spent nine years in marketing management before embarking on a career dedicated to development work.

“I am truly excited with this opportunity and believe there is significant potential to advance the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics,” Myers said.  “I look forward to working with Dean Salamon, NS&M’s faculty, and administration to develop a solid strategic plan and to begin fundraising for NS&M’s dynamic and vital future.”
