Business Affairs Staffers Extend a Helping Hand

By: Office of Media Relations | Dec. 19, 2008

The Business Affairs staff took time this season to lend a holiday helping hand to the less fortunate.

Staffers contributed funds and canned goods to help two area charities.

The canned goods went to the North Texas Food Bank, which distributes food and grocery products in 13 North Texas counties.

The cash donations were used to buy a big screen TV, a video player, and several bicycles for the Samaritan Inn, the only homeless shelter in Collin County.

They also gave the Samaritan Inn a gift certificate to purchase DVDs for its visitors to enjoy.

“The overwhelming support for this effort is a tribute to the dedicated employees of Business Affairs who were generous with their time and resources to help those less fortunate,” said Dr. Calvin D. Jamison, Vice President for Business Affairs.

“In the spirit of the season, they embody the phrase, ‘UT Dallas cares.’ ”
