Dr. Gary B. Schuster, professor of chemistry and dean of the College of Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology, will visit The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) on Oct. 25 and 26 to tour the campus and meet with campus groups, community leaders and members of the news media.

The University of Texas System Board of Regents last week named Schuster one of the three finalists for the presidency of UTD. The others selected are Dr. Thomas J. Barton, professor of chemistry at Iowa State University and director of the Ames National Laboratory, and Dr. John C. Baldwin, associate provost for health affairs at Dartmouth College and professor of surgery at Dartmouth Medical School. UTD President Dr. Franklyn Jenifer is retiring after more than 10 years as head of the university.

On Tuesday, Oct. 26, from 1:45 to 3:15 p.m., Schuster will appear at an open forum in the auditorium of the School of Management building to deliver some remarks and answer questions before members of the faculty, students, alumni, members of the community and the news media.

Following the open forum, from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m., there will be an opportunity for members of the media to meet with Schuster and ask the finalist questions. That session also will be held in the auditorium of the School of Management building, which is located at the southeast corner of Drive A and University Parkway.

Baldwin visited the university and met with various groups and the media on Oct. 18-19, and Barton will do the same on Oct. 28-29. For additional information, please contact the UTD Office of News & Information at 972-883-2155.
