The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) will present a poetry reading by UTD faculty member Geoffrey Brock in the Media Room of the Visual Arts building on Monday, April 1, at 5 p.m. Brock will read his own poetry as well as some of his translations of poems by Cesare Pavese and Umberto Saba. The event is free and open to the public.

Brock’s poems appear widely in such journals as Poetry, Paris Review, Southern Review and Hudson Review, as well as in several anthologies, including the forthcoming New Voices, published by the Academy of American Poets. This summer Copper Canyon Press will publish “Disaffections,” a volume of Brock’s translations of Cesare Pavese’s poetry. Brock, who earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Fine Arts degree in poetry from the University of Florida, has received fellowships from the Academy of American Poets, the Florida Arts Council, and the MacDowell Colony. In addition, he recently received a Stegner Fellowship from Stanford University
