UT Dallas Computer Gaming Contest to Award $25,000 in Prizes
By: Office of Media Relations | Sept. 18, 2007
The Computer Gaming Entrepreneurship Competition at The University of Texas at Dallas will reward students for creating an original game concept paired with a strong business plan.
The contest is open to all UT Dallas students enrolled for the 2007 fall semester. Teams must consist of three to eight students; registration is now through Oct. 5. Students will retain the intellectual property rights for their entries.
Experts from major game companies will judge the competition. The awards are $12,000 for first place, $7,000 for second place and $5,000 for third place. One team will receive a $1,000 Excellence in Innovation award.
The prize money was donated by Hughes Ventures — an early stage private equity investor in Dallas — to inspire and enable UT Dallas students to produce the leading game designs of tomorrow. The event is cosponsored by the University and its Institute for Interactive Arts and Engineering and Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
