By: Office of Media Relations | April 16, 2008
Students for Environmental Awareness (SEA) will mark Earth Day at UT Dallas from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the Student Union Mall area.
An outdoor fair is planned to inform the campus about the importance of protecting and preserving the planet. There will be activities and giveaways.
Organizations including SUAAB, Residential Life, Service Learning and Student Gardeners Alliance are expected to attend.
According to the SEA president, Barrett DeCutler, the group was founded in 2005 and has undertaken several projects in addition to organizing the Earth Day celebration for the last three years.
“The campus recycling program that began in April 2007 was our first major accomplishment,” said DeCutler.
“We are growing our membership and expanding our efforts to University centers off the main campus as well.”
The organization was awarded Student Organization of the Year by Student Life.
