Dear UT Dallas family,

I hope you enjoyed a healthy, happy and restful Thanksgiving break. In just a few weeks, we will hold our final classes of 2021 and prepare to celebrate our graduating students.

This has been an incredible semester. We welcomed our second-largest freshman class, broke ground on a new biomedical engineering and sciences building in Dallas, and cheered on our NCAA athletes in their competitions. New discoveries, creations and solutions continue to come from our exceptional faculty and students in classrooms and labs. Our remarkable staff delivered terrific programming and service to our community. And we did all of this while taking care of each other by following recommended public health practices.

I ask you to continue to do what you can to minimize any risk from the COVID-19 virus during the holiday season, not only for your well-being, but also for others on campus and in your community.

Please wear a mask when indoors, wash your hands frequently, use hand sanitizer when necessary and stay home if you feel sick or have been exposed to the coronavirus.

We will be monitoring the spread of COVID-19 during the winter break. You can help in this effort by taking part in the Daily Health Check, even when not on campus. By doing this, the University can continue to monitor trends related to coronavirus infections.

So, as the semester comes to a close, take a moment to celebrate how far we have come since the beginning of the pandemic. I remain forever grateful for your resilience and flexibility.

With sincere appreciation,
