Move Beefs Up Enrollment Office Capabilities
By: Office of Media Relations | Oct. 2, 2009
The Office of Enrollment Management has turned to one of its own to oversee continued improvements of the University’s computerized enrollment system.
Tim Padgett will serve as the department’s assistant vice president for enrollment technology. He previously had worked as an information systems analyst in the same office.
Padgett’s team will work to make enrollment tools increasingly functional, reliable and time-efficient for the students, staff and academic departments who use them. His staff will provide increased technical support for the divisions of the Office for Enrollment Management, which include Enrollment Services, the Office of the Registrar and the Financial Aid Office.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge of delivering services to the larger organization, and the campus community as a whole,” said Padgett. “I have a very competent team, and they’re constantly innovating to meet new goals.”
Padgett, who reports to Curt Eley, vice president for enrollment management, will lead a team responsible for managing the technology-intensive processes of the department, which directs the recruitment and enrollment of students for the University.
For many of these projects, he and his team will collaborate with the University’s seven schools, numerous programs and departments, Information Resources and the Office of Strategic Planning & Analysis.
“Tim brings a high level of integrity and an enthusiasm for work that makes a difference in people’s lives,” said Eley. “His outstanding communication skills and track record with project management will be a tremendous asset in his new role.”
Padgett’s team also works with Project Orion, coordinating with the University’s Information Resources (IR) department to maintain security and quality data for enrollment records within the system. Orion is a Web-based information portal that one day will manage virtually every aspect of a student’s academic career, from registering for classes to accepting financial aid, to applying for graduation. Orion operates on the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions platform, a comprehensive suite of software that gives users real-time information. When completed, Orion will serve nearly every consumer of University data, including students, faculty and staff.
Padgett received a bachelor’s of science degree in computer information systems from Arizona State University, and is completing a master’s of science degree with a concentration in information assurance and an MBA with a concentration in information technology at the University of Dallas.
