The UT Dallas community is saddened by the death of Betty Johnson, a longtime friend and supporter of the University. Johnson, 92, died March 4.
She and her husband, the late Gifford K. Johnson, played an integral part in the formation of UT Dallas in the 1960s. Gifford Johnson was president of the Graduate Research Center of the Southwest until 1969 when the center became The University of Texas at Dallas.
A memorial service for Betty Johnson will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 12, at Preston Hollow United Methodist Church at 6315 Walnut Hill Lane in Dallas. Her family requests that all donations in her honor be made to the Betty and Gifford Johnson Graduate Scholarship Endowment. Contributions to this fund may be directed to UT Dallas, 800 W.
