Journalist and Author David Bornstein to Speak About Social Entrepreneurship May 13 at UTD

David Bornstein, author of How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas, will speak at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) on Thursday, May 13, at 4 p.m., in Room 2.410 of the McDermott Library on campus. The lecture, which is being sponsored by UTD’s School of Social Sciences, the American India Foundation and Students for Social Entrepreneurship, is free and open to the public. Bornstein’s talk is expected to focus on five years of research about social entrepreneurs around the world and examine the personal and organizational qualities and the strategies of entrepreneurs who are implementing solutions to social problems on a large scale in several countries, including Brazil, India, South Africa, Hungary, Poland and the United States. Bornstein’s book was highlighted by Publishers Weekly as one of five “extraordinary books” published in the United States in February 2004. His articles and opinion pieces have appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times,Newsday, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, Il Mundo ( Italy) and Defis Sud ( Belgium), among others.
