It's All Relatives: Day to Be Devoted to Families
By: Office of Media Relations | Sept. 22, 2008
The Family Day tradition returns to the UT Dallas campus this year on Saturday Sept. 27.
The day lets students show off the campus to their families and show them what makes UT Dallas great.
It also gives families a chance to meet informally with faculty members and administrators and see some of the interesting things going on around campus.
The afternoon starts with addresses from Dean of Students Donna Rogers and Student Government President Steven Rosson. Afterward, the Parent and Family Association will host a reception.
Dr. Michael Coleman, Associate Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education, will be the keynote speaker at the reception. Door prizes and goodie bags will be awarded for siblings under age 12 and for registered family members.
After the reception, families will tour UT Dallas’ state-of-the-art Natural Science and Engineering Research Laboratory.
Other activities for families to enjoy include:
- Tours of the UT Dallas Motion Capture Lab.
- Pool, ping pong and video games at the Student Union.
- Texas barbecue on the Student Union Mall provided by Student Life and the UT Dallas Career Center.
Concluding the day is the annual Sounds of Class Celebration, which is free to all UT Dallas students and their families.
The Family Day is $15 per family member, but UT Dallas students and children under 12 can attend free. To register and to find out more, visit the Family Day Web site.
