The Natural Sciences and Mathematics Colloquium, a lecture series of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), continues with a talk about international learning environments on Thursday, April 11, at 3:45 p.m. by leading education researcher Dr. Barry J. Fraser.
Fraser, who is director of the Science and Mathematics Education Center and the National Key Center for the School Science and Mathematics at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Australia, will talk about the crucial relationship between teachers and students and how educators can work together via international collaborations to improve learning environments for students. Fraser’s research on the subject also examines how teachers interact with each other and how those interactions affect student learning.
Fraser currently is working with the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) as part of a grant from the National Science Foundation to help improve math and science education within DISD.
The Natural Sciences and Mathematics Colloquium is free and open to the public and will take place on the UTD campus in Room 1.112 of the Conference Center. Fraser’s talk will begin at 3:45 p.m. and last approximately one hour. For additional information, please call (972) 883-2496 or visit www.utdallas.edu/dept/nsm.
