From UT System Chancellor Milliken: UTD Presidential Search Update

By: Office of Media Relations | April 15, 2025

Dear UT Dallas Community,

I write today to offer an update on the search for President Benson’s successor.

The search advisory committee and I were very pleased with the high quality and number of candidates who expressed interest in the presidency. The opening attracted exceptional talent.

The committee screened and narrowed the candidate pool following interviews. Soon the Board of Regents will interview the top recommended candidates in executive session.

At the conclusion of the interviews, the Board may vote in open session to name a finalist or finalists. If the Board names a sole finalist, it must wait 21 days pursuant to state law to take final action naming UTD’s next president.

The faculty, staff, alumni and student representatives, along with the UT presidents and regents who comprised the search advisory committee, did an outstanding job representing the aspirations and interests of UTD. I am also very grateful for suggestions we received from the broader UTD community during the search.

I will look forward to connecting with you again following the Board interviews. Thank you for all you do to make UT Dallas a terrific place to learn and work.

Sincerely,

James B. Milliken
Chancellor
