UT Dallas’ Kappa Sigma fraternity will build a make-shift house of cardboard and wood that members will live in next week outside the Student Union to collect donations and raise awareness about homelessness in Dallas.

The annual Box-A-Thon will last from Monday, Oct. 20, through Thursday, Oct. 23.

Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the fund-raiser’s duration, and can be left at the box outside the Student Union, which will be under 24-hour watch.

The fraternity will accept canned foods, toys, and lightly used clothing and blankets to benefit the Dallas Life Foundation. Cash donations will benefit the Fisher House, which offers rehabilitative assistance to injured war veterans to help keep them self-supporting.

The donations will be delivered Friday afternoon.
