The Brain Performance Institute, a nonprofit partner of Carry The Load, will participate in the Dallas Memorial March this weekend.
For the second consecutive year, the Center for BrainHealth’s Brain Performance Institute has been selected as a nonprofit partner of Carry The Load and will be a beneficiary of funds raised during the charitable organization’s upcoming Dallas Memorial March.
Carry The Load, a national nonprofit organization founded by two former Navy SEALs from Dallas, aims to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day by providing ways for Americans to honor and remember the sacrifices of our nation’s military and first responders.
“At the Brain Performance Institute, we recognize and celebrate the sacrifices of our nation’s heroes each and every day, and are thrilled about the opportunity to partner with Carry The Load again this year, uniting our efforts to reach the entire network of military service members, veterans and first responders across the nation,” said Eric Bennett, Brain Performance Institute executive director.
During the march, some participants walk for a few minutes and others for hours while wearing weighted vests or carrying heavy objects to honor those who have fallen. Everyone is invited to participate no matter fitness level or ability.

The march will be held at Reverchon Park beginning with an opening ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The walk will start at 4 p.m. and finish after 20 hours and 15 minutes at 12:15 p.m. Monday. A closing ceremony will follow at 12:30 p.m.
“We are honored to have the Brain Performance Institute as a Dallas nonprofit partner again this year,” said Stephen Holley, Carry The Load co-founder and former U.S. Navy SEAL.
“The Brain Performance Institute’s mission to arm our nation's heroes with the tools to achieve successful, fulfilling lives by optimizing brain performance through effective, evidence-based programs is so important in the rehabilitation and transition from active duty to civilian life. The opportunity for Carry The Load to provide support to further this mission is something we are excited to be a part of for another year.”
Other Dallas-area nonprofit partners include Assist the Officer Foundation, Attitudes & Attire, Austin Street Corner, Equest Hooves for Heroes, Gratitude Initiative, Krodle Memorial Foundation, Sons of the Flag and Tip of the Spear Foundation.
Since the Brain Performance Institute launched in 2013, more than 900 service members, veterans, military spouses and caregivers, and first responders have participated in high performance brain training programs at no cost, thanks to partners like Carry The Load.
“Our mission this year, and every year until we’ve reached as many as we can, is to continue delivering this scientifically validated program to those who have voluntarily endured service and sacrifice,” said Chris Talcott, Brain Performance Institute deputy director and a retired U.S. Army colonel. “The strategies we provide in our programs maximize brain performance, minimize stress and improve productivity, instilling healthier brains, healthier families and ultimately, a healthier nation.”
