The UT Dallas Comets men’s and women’s basketball teams are competing for American Southwest Conference titles in championship tournaments that start Friday.
This is the fifth straight year for the men to qualify and the second year for the women, who just completed their most successful season in program history.

The women’s team faces McMurry College in a quarterfinal match Friday night at UT Tyler. The women, who finished their season with a five-game winning streak, enter the championship tournament as the East Division’s No. 3 seed.
The men’s team finished its regular season last weekend with a 67-50 win over Louisiana College. They face No. 2 seed Concordia-Texas in quarterfinal play Friday at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor’s Mayborn Campus Center in Belton, Texas.
