RICHARDSON, Texas (July 10, 2006) — The Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) will partner with startup incubator STARTech Early Ventures to offer an eight week series of entrepreneurial development workshops beginning this September.
The first Entrepreneurial Development Series will begin September 8 with a kickoff reception and dinner featuring Berry Cash, general partner of the venture capital firm Interwest Partners, as the keynote speaker. The first of the daylong weekly workshops will be the next day. The series will take place at the UTD School of Management.
Dr. Joseph Picken, institute executive director, said the workshops will be geared for entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs, key employees in entrepreneurial firms and managers in established firms that are seeking new growth opportunities through innovation and entrepreneurship.
All programs will be presented by venture capitalists, CEOs, legal experts, experienced entrepreneurs and startup executives, as well as UTD faculty members who specialize in entrepreneurship in a variety of fields, he said.
“This program represents a unique opportunity for participants to enhance their skills while networking with investors, service providers and other entrepreneurs,” Picken said. “Each session will incorporate a mix of theory, practice and real-world experience, including panel discussions designed to address topics from multiple perspectives.”
Cost of the eight-week series is $995 and includes meals, a graduation reception and all course materials. Participants who complete the entire series will receive a Certificate in Entrepreneurship from Executive Education at the UTD School of Management. The Entrepreneurial Development Series is scheduled to be presented again in February and March 2007, Picken said.
