Managing Introduction of Products, Ideas Is Topic of First in Series of Lectures at UTD

RICHARDSON, Texas (Feb. 10, 2006) – How to successfully manage the complex process of introducing a new product or capitalizing on a novel idea, from conception to delivery, will be the focus of the first in a series of presentations to be featured in The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) Project Management Focused Lecture Series.

 

The event, titled “Bridging the Gap 2006:  Invention, Innovation and Commercialization,” will be held in the Davidson Auditorium in the School of Management Building on the UTD campus on Feb. 22 from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

 

Speakers will include Bob Armbruster of Network Centric Systems and Raytheon Company, Jim Joiner of UTD’s Project Management Program, Paul Westbrook of Texas Instruments, Bill Sproull and Meredith Dowling of the Richardson and Dallas Chamber, respectively, and Mike McCoy, Terry Dalton, and Steve Penson of PageSoutherlandPage.  Topics will include managing sustainable design issues, facilitating private and public collaborative efforts, workforce availability and resource allocation.

 

UTD’s program in project management, part of the university’s School of Management, a sponsor of the event, is one of a few such programs in the world to be accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI).  Students in the graduate-level program receive a broad management education as well as sound preparation for PMI’s certifying exam.
