A management student who has shown talent both on campus and on the job will be recognized this month by the Texas Business Hall of Fame.

The organization will honor Sarah Voges on Oct. 15 in Houston in an event that will also recognize business leaders being inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame, among them Dallas restaurateur Philip Romano.

The nonprofit organization recognizes the accomplishments of the state’s business leaders and encourages future entrepreneurs. Voges’ recognition comes with a $10,000 unrestricted scholarship.

Among 15 honorees from universities across the state, Voges, a full-time MBA student scheduled to graduate in December, says, “I probably do want to start my own business” someday but more immediately, “I’m hoping to get a job in product or brand management.”

Voges was a teaching assistant last academic year for the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE), which is based in the UT Dallas School of Management. She also developed promotional materials and helped with recruiting for IIE’s student organization, the Entrepreneurship Club.

From June through September of this year, she had a local product-management internship working on advertising, customer guides, data collection and analysis, promotional materials and Web sites for Verizon LiveSource wireline directory-assistance services.

She volunteers with a UT Dallas student team developing new marketing strategy for the African American Museum in Dallas.
