RICHARDSON, Texas (Jan. 24, 2003) -The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) will present Mozart, Ravel & Brahms, a concert of chamber music featuring UTD artist-in-residence and Dallas Symphony Orchestra violinist Arkady Fomin, on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m. in the UTD Conference Center on campus.
Guest artists for the concert will include Barbara Thiem, a professor of cello at Colorado State University; Misha Galaganov, recently appointed viola professor at Texas Christian University; and Theodor Lichtmann, professor and chair of piano studies at the University of Denver.
Tickets for Mozart, Ravel & Brahms are $10 general admission and $5 for students. They will be on sale Mondays to Fridays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Art & Performance Office in the Visual Arts Building on the UTD campus and will be available at the door one hour prior to show time. Tickets also are available for purchase by phone during ticket office hours by calling 972-883-2982 and charging with Visa or MasterCard.
The concert will include Mozart’s Trio for Violin, Cello, and Piano, K542, Ravel’s Sonata for Violin and Cello and Brahms’ Piano Quartet in g minor, Op. 25.

About the Artists
Arkady Fomin . . .
Arkady Fomin, violinist, was born in Riga, Latvia, where he received his musical training at the Latvian State Conservatory with legendary pedagogue, Voldemar Sturestep. As a chamber musician and soloist, Fomin has collaborated in performances with Pinchas Zukerman, Yefim Bronfman, Emanuel Borok, Schlomo Mintz, Atar Arad, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, and the late Stephen DeGroot, among others. His active concert schedule has included performances throughout the United States, Russia, Latvia, Estonia, Czechoslovakia, Great Britain, Austria, and Japan. In addition to his duties as a violinist with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Fomin is founder and artistic director of the New Conservatory of Dallas, artistic director of the Conservatory Music in the Mountains in Durango, Colo., and director of the Music Academy at Schloss Ort in Gmunden, Austria. Fomin is a member of the faculty and artist-in-residence at UTD.
Theodor Lichtmann . . .
Theodor Lichtmann, pianist, was born and educated in Switzerland. He studied at the University of Munich and the Vienna Academy of Music as well as privately with Irma Schaichet and Leonard Shure, assistant to legendary Arthur Schnabel. Lichtmann received his Master of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He is highly sought after as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the U.S. and internationally and is co-founder of the Mendelssohn Trio. Professor Lichtmann has taught in Zurich, the Brooklyn Conservatory, the University of Texas at Austin and Wittenberg University. Currently, he is the chairman of the Piano Division at Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver in Colorado.
