Internationally recognized lutenist Hopkinson Smith will perform on vihuela de mano and six-course lute in a concert of Renaissance Music from Spain, France and England at The University of Texas at Dallas’ (UTD) Jonsson Performance Hall on Friday, April 19, at 8 p.m. Included will be works by Luys Milan, Luys de Narváez, Alonso Mudarra, Pierre Attaignant, John Johnson and John Dowland.
Tickets for Hopkinson Smith are free to anyone with a UTD photo identification card, $5 for students of other universities and children and $15 for the general public. They are available for purchase Tuesdays through Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at UTD’s Visual Arts Building or by phone with a credit card.
Internationally recognized as a leading personality in the field of early music and one of the world’s great lutenists, the Harvard-educated Smith gives concerts and master classes throughout Eastern and Western Europe and in North and South America.
