Jazz a cappella ensemble Chapter 6 performs Monday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Conference Center.
The Chicago-area group has received numerous awards and recognition for its technique, performance and original arrangements.
Chapter 6 started in a college course at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., before winning its first competition in 2000. When most of its members graduated the following year, the group decided to enter the professional market.
Comprised of six vocalists and one arranger, Chapter 6 is the only vocal ensemble to win both the International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella (2001) and the National Harmony Sweepstakes (2004).
Chapter 6 tours the U.S., Canada, and Asia, performing in a wide variety of venues.
Chapter 6 has appeared with the National Symphony Orchestra at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and received the A Cappella Community Award (2006) for “Favorite Jazz Group.”
