RICHARDSON, Texas (March 25, 2005) — Classical guitarist András Csáki will perform in concert Thursday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m., in the Jonsson Performance Hall at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD).
Csáki will teach a master class at 4 p.m. that afternoon in the same venue.

Csáki, who has studied the guitar since 1992, has won numerous honors for his artistry, including 1st prize and a special prize for the best performance of a classical piece at the International Anna Amailia Junior Guitar Competition (Weimar, 1999), 1st prize at the XXVI International Musical Contest “Dr. Luis Sigall” (Vina del Mar-Chile, 1999), 1st prize at the 4th International Guitar Competition of J. K. Mertz (Bratislava 2003) and 1st prize at the John Duarte Competition (Rust, 2004). Gabriel Guillen, director of the Rust International Guitar Festival, has hailed Csáki for his “magnificent technique and great musicality.”
Since 1995, Csáki has attended master classes with Vásáry Tamás, Costas Cotsiolis, Martin Myslivecek and Kováts Barna. He has performed with various chamber and symphonic orchestras. Csáki currently performs with the Excanto Chamber Orchestra in Budapest. Hungarian Public Radio and Television has broadcast many of his live performances and interviews.
The UTD program will include Johann Sebastian Bach’s Suite in c-minor, La Catedral by Agustin Barrios, Sonata op. 77 by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Nocturnal op. 70 by Benjamin Britten, Variations on a Catalan Folksong by John Duarte and Grand Solo op. 14 by Fernando Sor.
