The Fall Arts Festival, a free extravaganza that features the work of more than 700 University of Texas at Dallas students from 35 courses in music, visual arts, theatre and dance, will be held on the UTD campus Nov. 22-24.

The festival will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, with an art exhibition and reception in the Visual Arts Building and a series of recitals in Jonsson Performance Hall.

Students’ art work will be exhibited from a wide variety of courses, including Visual Elements, The Creative Process, Design, Color and Structure, Beginning Drawing, Beginning Painting, Continuing Painting, Black and White Photography, Color Photography, Technical Photography, Photography and The Body, Figure Drawing, Figure Sculpture, Storytelling for New Media and Internet Studio.

Among the recitals to be held that evening will be a Vocal Senior Honors Recital at 6; Guitar Ensemble at 7; Group Voice at 7:30; Individual Voice at 8; Chamber Singers at 8:30; and Jazz Band at 9.

Also on Friday night, the University Theatre will host Improvisation at 6:30; Stage Combat at 7; and Dance Ensembles, including Movement and The Body, Modern Dance and Continuing Dance, beginning at 7:30.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, the Jonsson Performance Hall will host the following concerts: Beginning Piano at 3, String Ensemble at 3:30 and Wind Ensemble at 4 p.m. In addition, the UTD Community Chorale will perform in University Theatre at 2:30 p.m.

On Sunday, Nov. 24, the festivities will culminate with a symposium on poet Ezra Pound in JO 3.516 beginning at 1 p.m. and a staged reading of Michael Alleman’s original work, “The Dark Nut of the Soul: Pound at St. Elizabeth’s,” in the Jonsson Performance Hall at 5 p.m. in partial fulfillment of his Ph.D. degree. A feedback session will follow the reading.
