UT Dallas’ Da Hsuan Feng Wins Award From Drew University

 


Head of Research, Graduate Studies Honored for Science Achievements

RICHARDSON, Texas (May 10, 2001) – Dr. Da Hsuan Feng, vice president for research and graduate education at The University of Texas at Dallas, will be honored next month by his alma mater, Drew University, for his contributions to science. Feng has been named the recipient of Drew’s 2000–2001 Alumni/ae Achievement Award in the Sciences.

 

The award, which has been presented most years since its inception in 1955, is given to graduates of the university based on “success in his or her chosen field, outstanding character, loyalty to Drew and personification of the basic ideals of the university.”

 

Feng will receive the award June 2 at a ceremony that will be part of a three-day reunion of Drew alumni at the university’s Madison, New Jersey, campus. Seven other Drew alumni will also be honored for accomplishments in other fields of endeavor.

 

Feng, a prominent theoretical physicist with notable achievements in the areas of international affairs, government service, business entrepreneurship and public education, was appointed UT Dallas’ first vice president for research and graduate education last November. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from Drew University and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in theoretical nuclear physics from the University of Minnesota.
