RICHARDSON, Texas (Aug. 18, 2004) – The University of North Texas’ internationally renowned One O’Clock Lab Band will perform in the Conference Center on The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) campus at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18.
Tickets for the show are $15 for general admission, $10 for students and free to UTD students with a valid identification. UTD ticket office hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and at the door one hour prior to show time. To purchase tickets using Visa, MasterCard or Discover, please call 972-883-2972.
Now in its 56th year, the One O’Clock Lab Band is the premier performing ensemble of UNT’s world-famous jazz program. The band has received four Grammy nominations, as well as awards from National Public Radio, VISA International, The International Association of Jazz Educators and the Dallas Observer Reader’s Poll. Regarded as unsurpassed among university jazz bands, One O’Clock has performed at the White House and with such artists as Tony Bennett and Ella Fitzgerald.
Directed by Neil Slater, who received his own Grammy nomination for best arrangement on Lab ‘91, the ensemble has toured Europe, Mexico, Australia, Japan and Russia, and past members have gone on to play in bands led by Branford Marsalis, Doc Severinsen, Harry Connick, Jr., Count Basie, David Lee Roth, Woody Herman and Bill Evans.
