RICHARDSON, Texas (Jan. 21, 2004) — Motivational speaker Dr. David Molapo will give a presentation at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12, in the Jonsson Performance Hall. Joining him will be the I Can Quintet, the a cappella group from Soweto, South Africa, that Molapo founded.
The event is free and open to the public.
Molapo, a South African who is a management consultant as well as a renowned speaker, was imprisoned at the age of 13 for political reasons. Since then, he has written a variety of books, including The 10 Exciting Keys to Success, Keeping Hope Alive, Growing Up Spiritually and If You Are Not Growing, You Are Dying. Molapo has earned numerous awards, including Young Achiever of the Year-South Africa, a FOYSA (Four Outstanding South Africans’ Awards) and the PMR Silver Arrow. His stated philosophy is: “We are no longer prisoners of our past, but we are pioneers of our future.”
In 1990, Molapo organized the I Can Quintet to help him spread his message of hope. The men of the quintet are part of the I Can Foundation, a nongovernmental organization dedicated to promoting democracy, social justice and community development.
