The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) will offer a free continuing education symposium on the subject of genomics for middle school and high school biology teachers on Saturday, Feb. 4.
The day-long event, titled “Understanding Microbes at the Genome Level,” will convey information about genomics, bioinformatics and microbial genomics. Microbial genomics holds the key to understanding microorganisms and how their unique properties can benefit such areas as agriculture, human health, energy and the environment.
The symposium will comprise a series of half-hour presentations by scientists from UTD, The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and the National Science Foundation – all of whom are involved in genomics research. Each presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the UTD Conference Center, Room 1.112. Lunch will be provided to attendees.
