The School of Management and the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship are accepting applications for a new undergraduate scholarship in entrepreneurship that has been funded by a grant from the Texas Instruments Foundation.
The Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Incentive Program will offer its first scholarships this fall to engineering, science and technology majors who want to complete an 18-hour minor in innovation and entrepreneurship.
The minor consists of six courses in the School of Management: one course in accounting, three in entrepreneurship and two in marketing.
Students will receive $500 for the first course and $1,000 for each of the second and third entrepreneurship courses completed in the sequence. About 10 scholarships will be offered each semester.
To be eligible, a student must have an overall GPA of at least 3.00 and be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident enrolled as a full-time sophomore, junior or senior in an engineering, science or technology program at UT Dallas. Faculty recommendations, leadership, work and community service experience will also be considered.
The Texas Instruments Foundation, founded in 1964, is a nonprofit corporation providing philanthropic support for educational and charitable purposes primarily in the communities where Texas Instruments has a presence. With a primary focus of education, the Foundation has a national reputation for its role in fostering early childhood programs involving several university partnerships. The Foundation supports civic, educational, research, charitable, health, welfare and cultural organizations.
The Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship at UTD is a collaborative initiative of the schools of Arts and Humanities, Behavioral and Brain Sciences, Engineering and Computer Sciences, Management, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and Economic, Political and Policy Sciences.
Application forms are available on the Institute web site or in advising offices across the campus. Scholarship applications must by submitted to Mary Chaffin, SOM 2.208 (MS SM 31) by April 21.
