Just in time for the new school year, UT Dallas has upgraded its WebCT support system with new user-assistance options.
Improvements include a toll-free phone number for immediate help, an option for e-mail assistance, and live online chats.
The new WebCT user support service is currently operational and available 24 hours a day and seven days per week.
According to Dr. Rhonda Blackburn, UT Dallas’ assistant provost for educational enhancement, the improvements will help advance instructional technology on campus.
“In upgrading WebCT, we hope to provide a quicker, more efficient solution for our users, including faculty and students,” Blackburn said. “By offering multiple options for solving problems, we also hope to cut down on wait times and ultimately make WebCT a more enjoyable and more seamless tool that will help improve overall operating efficiency at the University.”
WebCT is an online, virtual learning environment used for e-learning on college campuses throughout the country. Through WebCT, instructors can post lecture notes, PowerPoint presentations or supplemental materials for their classes. They may also require that students participate in online discussions, submit assignments or take tests and quizzes through WebCT.
Links to the improved service outlet can be found on various UT Dallas Web pages, including eLearning, Distance Education, McDermott Library, Information Resources and within the WebCT site. The toll-free telephone number for assistance is 866-588-3192.
