Darlene Coppage, an administrative assistant in the UT Dallas Career Center, is the recipient of the Staff Council’s Sandee Goertzen Award for 2007-2008.

The award recognizes outstanding Staff Council leadership and contributions.  It is named for a longtime UT Dallas employee who led the Staff Council from 1996 to 2000, and again from 2003 to 2006.

Coppage was the chair of the Staff Council Fund Raising Committee and has re-organized the ink-cartridge recycling program for the University.

Individuals are nominated by fellow Staff Council members, and then the members are voted upon by a committee of peers.

In addition to a trophy, Coppage received a certificate and a free parking pass for the year.

“Darlene has a servant’s heart, and leads by example,” said Chris Dickson, the current Staff Council president.

“She cares about staff and is always seeking ways to make a contribution,” he said.
