Balloons, Comedy and Cupcakes: It’s Springapalooza Time

Hot air balloons will add color to the skies above UT Dallas on Friday.

UT Dallas students will greet spring with a week of festivities that include hot air balloon rides and more.

Springapalooza, staged annually by the Student Union Activities Advisory Board (SUAAB), is planned for March 21-25.

Jonathan “GNO” White, assistant director of student activities and the SUAAB adviser, said Springapalooza is a perennial fave.

“This is our largest event of the year, and it’s one of my favorites to work on with our students,” White said. “They get very involved and really enjoy the tradition. I think this year, in particular, will be one of the best Springapalooza’s yet — from comedian Donald Glover to Sprinkles cupcakes to the hot air balloon rides, we’re expecting big crowds and big fun.”

Glover, who stars on the NBC comedy Community, performs Tuesday night at the Conference Center. The Sprinklesmobile serves cupcakes in the mall area on Thursday.

The SUAAB office will have an information booth situated in the mall near the plinth, with themed giveaways planned for noon each day.
