Management Professor Recognized for Highly Cited Research

Dr. Mike Peng of the Naveen Jindal School of Management at UT Dallas has been named to the 2017 list of Highly Cited Researchers from Clarivate Analytics (formerly of Thomson Reuters).
Peng, O.P. Jindal Distinguished Chair of Management, is on the roster for the fourth consecutive year.
This year’s list includes more than 3,300 researchers in 21 fields of the sciences and social sciences. These scholars have published a high number of papers that rank in the top 1 percent most cited in their respective fields over the last decade, and have been listed in The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds.
Peng, a professor of organizations, strategy and international management, is among the 93 scholars named in the field of economics and business.
“It is gratifying to see that my research continues to be of value to the scholarly community worldwide,” Peng said. “There is vigorous competition in the market for ideas, whose winners are cited. Given space constraints, the number of references in every paper is limited. Therefore, overly narrow, nonessential, and non-novel publications will not be widely cited. I have always endeavored to take on some big questions, which is a risky research strategy. But I am glad it has paid off.”
A leading expert on global business strategy, Peng is best known for his development of the institution-based view of strategy and his insights about the rise of emerging economies in global business.
His research has investigated business strategies in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. Both the United Nations and the World Bank have cited his work.
Public Affairs Vice President Selected as Chair of Richardson Chamber

Amanda Rockow MA’12, vice president for public affairs at UT Dallas, has been named chair of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, which serves 700 active members and is closely aligned with its local sister organization, Tech Titans.
Rockow has served on the chamber’s board since 2015, and has been vice chair of the economic division. She also served on the strategic task force, and the nominating and public policy committees.
“I want to focus on driving prosperity for our Richardson Chamber members and our community. In the coming year, our team will deliver innovative programming, focused advocacy and a compelling dialogue that attracts businesses and young people to invest in Richardson,” Rockow said.
Rockow has been the vice president for public affairs at UT Dallas since 2006. Serving as the chief government relations officer for the University, Rockow works to build and maintain relationships with key elected officials and agency representatives, communicates the University’s interests to regional officials, and tracks state legislation for potential impact on the University.
